Energy Supplier: Where Does It Come From?
The world economy relies on taking cheap goods from one place to another; the clothes we wear are usually made in a country several hundred miles away because it’s simply cheaper to buy them from that country. Oranges grown in South Africa are sent over several thousand miles to be eaten in the UK because it is the best way for businesses to get their supplies. The same applies to energy companies, Norway exports more gas than it uses because they use hydroelectricity and have a plentiful gas supply. Energy suppliers are very reliant on sources that they usually cant control because the demand from customers is very very high they need to get it from a different source.

In the United States forty nine percent of energy generated is produced by coal, a mineral which cannot be replaced when it is used. Due to the need to look at other sources of energy, suppliers have had to diversify and look for safer sources to take their energy supply from this has affected both their services and could potentially affect future energy supplies. The problem is that suppliers have few options when it comes to a reliable source of energy, something that is both continuous and stable. Wind Generators, for example is fantastic in principle but in reality if the whole of United Kingdom was covered in wind turbines from coast to coast it could only supply 1/3 of the UKs energy needs and create a lot of noise in the process and have no room for the population its trying to supply!. Its been said for a long time that nuclear power will replace all of our energy sources. But with the facts that the waste caused by nuclear power needs to be contained for millions of years safely the public do not like this fact..The main issue is that sustainable energy still has its limits for the energy supplier as it generally cant be used soley as the demand for energy is that high sustainable energy cant keep up.

Currently there are many companies such as Green Energy UK and Urban Green Energy in the USA who are trying to supply only green and sustainable energy to the suppliers. The suppliers have responded by offering their customers energy only from renewable sources both as a gesture towards environmentalists and an attempt to wean consumers off other sources of energy that have less long-term value. Unfortunately that may not be enough as in the end the suppliers are reliant on coal and oil from foreign sources to provide the bulk of their energy needs. In the search for an energy supplier it may be something that we all need to keep note of especially if our bills start to reflect that.
