Hire Only Professional Virtual Assistants, Avoid Personal Relationships Online

By September 23rd, 2010

One of the hazards of hiring a virtual assistant or a VA is to mistakenly hire someone who made false claims on skills; the other is to hire a VA who cannot separate personal relationships with their virtual employers.

There is always a risk of hiring a VA who lays false claims of skills which could ruin the business rather than help it grow. Look for a VA who is from a site that is highly recommended and has the testimonials to prove their skills.

The first time consultation should give clues to how professional they are. Listen for clues that could either ease the fears or point to warning signals.

•Do they take the initiative on certain tasks or do they wait before they are told on what to do?

•Do they ask questions that are relevant to the business which are purposeful and smart?

•Do they sound confident and articulate?

•Do they sound trustworthy?

•During the consultation, is there rapport established or not?

•Do they actually listen or are they too busy talking about themselves?

The second risk when hiring a VA is hiring someone who is more concerned with personal relationships rather than being professional. There are some unskilled VA who falsely claim to be professionals and yet they cannot seem to stop from making too many personal comments that can be distracting and disruptive to the business atmosphere. Hire only someone who is a professional, having a personal relationship online with the VA is fine, but there are times when the lines and professionalism blur.

Making mistakes when hiring a VA is very common so it is always best to consult Offshore Ally who have their own VAs and find out how the relationship works and what can be expected from a VA. Look only for highly recommended VA.
